Vice President of Blackrock Energy, Kali Ross, is an athletic and attractive woman. Her bronze legs suggest she’s African-American, but there’s no doubt she’s tough, judging from the way she’s able to withstand the bumps and bruises she receives at the hands of her opponents at her kickboxing classes.
And here’s another thing about Kali, she’s in lust with the blue-eyed president, Sir Gideon O’Shaughnessy, for quite some time. Why? Maybe it’s because he’s a knight, a billionaire, and just drop-dead sexy. It could possibly be because he’s smart and has a great sense of humor, as well. However, Kali and Gideon’s relationship is nothing but business-like, save for one day, six months ago, when there’s a subtle shift in the status quo and the sexual tension becomes palpable.
Fast-forward to the present. The workday is done, and so is the preparation for the next day’s presentation. It’s time for Kali to get her much-needed sleep. What could possibly happen in the office after hours? Well, lots of things happen when Gideon pays Kali a surprise visit.
Tiana Johnson’s short story, After Hours, is action-packed. After all, there’s mistaken identity, a brief fight scene (you’d be surprised to know who gets the upper hand), the sexually-charged banter, a little strip-tease act (well, kinda), and the inevitable satiation of Gideon and Kali’s hunger for each other. I must admit, though, the ending seems a bit rushed. So if you’re short on time, or sitting in the waiting room, or on the train, or taking a quick break, or just want to get a little reading in before you go to bed, then After Hours is a quick, delightful, sensual read for you.

Laurel Cremant is an opinionated author and reader of romance with a wicked sense of humor. RNIC was smart (or crazy) to bring her on as a blogger. In 2016 she took over the management of this site and relishes her new title of “Overlord of Awesome”
