A quickie, but with enough strokes, hits, and no misses, there is no doubt that if you are looking for a steamy read, then you should give A Player’s Agenda by Ambrielle Kirk a try. One can easily use those same words to describe the novella or first encounter between the characters, Damien and Mariah. Kirk serves up a lustful tale punctuated with a maybe happily-ever-after convincing enough to leave even the most seasoned romance/erotica/erotic romance reader wishing for more and glad they’re reading her novella. The sex scenes alone are enough to make you applaud.
Damien Petersen is the classic jock, rich boy, all-around BMOC (Big Man on Campus) who has enough women drooling after him to make anyone wonder what his appeal is outside of his family pedigree and what everyone knows to be a sizable trust fund. Yet, he has his eyes set on Mariah.
Mariah Coleman’s sole, singular purpose in life at this point is to get through grad school. Sure, she’s noticed Damien. What hot blooded female (and even some males judging by the word on campus) has not had their fair share of daydreams about Damien Petersen? THE Damien Petersen? Not very many. However, she had no idea that while she’s concentrating on accounting class, Damien is instead concentrating on her.
Oh wait. Did I mention that Damien is white and Mariah is black? Not that it matters because it’s with that same ease that Kirk provides their ethnicities as though it’s an afterthought. She also manages to cleverly weave in, and dispel, other myths about being in a relationship with a white man that tickles you because she does so with little to no effort. With sex scenes intimate enough to make even the boldest blush, A Player’s Agenda is one you want to keep on your eReader.

Laurel Cremant is an opinionated author and reader of romance with a wicked sense of humor. RNIC was smart (or crazy) to bring her on as a blogger. In 2016 she took over the management of this site and relishes her new title of “Overlord of Awesome”
