Join RNIC in welcoming author Harmony Evans to the site! Harmony is introducing us to her novel, Stealing Kisses and doing a giveaway, but first, let’s get to know her.
Harmony, how long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing fiction since 2002. At the time, one of my jobs was a board operator at a local radio station where I would often work the night shift. For those who are unfamiliar, I was the gal who pushed the buttons so that the programs, station ID, commercials, etc. would air at the right times. As an added bonus, I got to say the weather, headlines, etc. I decided to write as a way of keeping myself awake on those long overnight shifts! That morphed into a love for creating happily-ever-after stories.
Did you always want to be a writer? If not, what else did you want to do?
Yes and no. I had a college professor who told me to never stop writing no matter what happens in your life. Of course, I did not follow her advice, but I did continue to journal daily. Now, all I WANT to do is write and my greatest wish is to someday be able to write full-time.
What is your greatest accomplishment as an author so far?
Winning the 2013 Romance Slam Jam Emma Award for Debut Author of the Year. It was an honor to be nominated and humbling to win.
How do you celebrate each book release?
I thank God, hug my daughter extra-tight for being my greatest supporter and we go have a nice meal.
What writing rituals help to get your mojo flowing so you can write?
I usually make a pot of coffee and make sure the fridge is well-stocked with Diet Pepsi. That being said, I’m learning pretty quickly to write without stoking the mojo.
What are your pet peeves?
People who whistle too early in the morning. Men who expect you to open the door for them, instead of the other way around. When I don’t have the time to write as much as I’d like to write.
What flowers would be in your ideal bouquet?
Sunflowers, daisies and babies breath because they make me happy.
What is your dream car and why?
I’m already driving it. A 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Convertible. It puts a smile on my face anytime I drive it.
What adjectives would your close friends use to describe you?
Caring, Attentive, and Friendly
Finish this sentence: I’m addicted to…
Gummy bears, cheese curls, the Internet, my MAC, and crafting the perfect sentence.
Finish this sentence: You gotta love a man who…
Is emotionally available, does what he says he will do and means what he says.
What can readers expect from you next?
My next novel, LOVING LANEY, is part of a new Harlequin Kimani continuity series and will be released in June 2014.
