Join RNIC in welcoming author Dee Dee M. Scott to the site! Today, Dee Dee is introducing us to her novel, Sent From Heaven and doing a giveaway. But first, let’s get to know her.
Tell us about yourself.
I wear many hats. I am an author, publisher, filmmaker, songwriter and playwright. I am also a wife and mother who home schools my children.
What do you do for fun?
I love to travel and spend time with my family.
What are your pet peeves?
Any negativity. I try to avoid it as much as possible.
How long have you been writing?
I have been writing since the age of six. It was something I always did. By the time I was a teenager, I was writing poetry and performing in front of audiences. I wrote my first book after my husband brought me a computer to stop me from taking up space in our closets with the notebooks of stories that I had hand written.
Did you always want to be a writer? If not, what else did you want to do?
Yes. I always wanted to be a writer. I did teach first grade for five years, but my mind and heart was on writing.
What is your greatest accomplishment as an author so far?
Producing a movie and stage plays.
What inspired you to write your latest release?
Years ago, while vacationing with my family, an idea popped into my head that stayed on my mind for the remainder of the trip. I couldn’t wait to get home to write out my thoughts. The story was about a powerful family (One sister and five brothers) named The Tuckers. To the outside world they appeared perfect, but in reality they were all still hurting and devastated due to an incident that had destroyed their childhoods. I wrote the first book and had no intention of writing about them after that, but the characters continued speaking and before I realized it, I had a story for each family member.
Would any of your books make a good movie?
The Lake House. I am currently producing this film and it will play in select theaters soon.
How do you balance writing and your personal life?
I wrote ten books a year ago. Now, I have time to focus on other things like my publishing company, stage plays and films. I will release my other books throughout 2013-15.
What can readers expect from you next?
I am producing my first film: Lake House that will be released soon. I will also continue touring with the stage play- My Husband’s Woman. I am also producing two stage plays (Misery Loves Company and All The Bad Man Can Do Is keep The Good One From Coming To You) coming in soon. I also have eight talented authors signed to my publishing company, Ahsyad Publications. Some of their books will be released soon.
Best-selling Romance author Maya Smith’s life is far different from the characters she creates in her novels. Left to raise a baby without the assistance of the married father, she has given up on finding a prince on a white horse to rescue her.
Enter Cardiologist and single father, Ford Tucker. Dr. Tucker is all work and no play. He has dedicated his life to work and raising his daughter. When Ford becomes Maya’s Cardiologist, he is instantly smitten with her.
Sparks fly and the passion’s hot as ever between the two. But just when Ford thinks he has finally found Ms. Right, and Maya thinks she’s found her prince, a devastating secret is revealed that will rock the core of their relationship. Will their bond survive the terrible secret? Or will Ford end up alone and Maya prince less?
When Ford entered the office, Maya’s heart went into full blown palpitations. Now was the deal breaker. Maybe last night had just been a heat of the moment thing. Maybe to him, it was nothing.
Ford walked behind the desk and sat in his office chair. His eyes were glued to the file in his hands. “You’re MRI looks good,” he said, placing the folder aside. He locked his eyes on her. “In the meantime, you should continue taking your medicine and keep your yearly checkups.”
Happy with her test results, Maya breathed a sigh of relief. “Is there anything else I need to do?” she asked.
“Yes,” Ford answered, braiding his fingers together on the desk. “Have dinner with me.”
“Dinner?” she asked, completely surprised.
“Yes, let me take you out.” Ford stood from his chair. He moved to her and helped her from the seat. “So, what do you say?”
Maya strapped on her purse. “Why do you want to take me out?”
Ford gently took her hand. “You gave me your word yesterday that you would let me, remember?”
“I do, but we also agreed that it wouldn’t be a date.”
“It’s not. I just want to know more about you.”
Again, Maya looked surprised. “Why?”
Ford inched in closer. “My little girl has taken a liking to you.”
Maya smiled playfully and her seductive brown eyes twinkled. “I’ve taken a liking to Claire too.”
“What about me?”
“You’re interesting, I guess,” Maya said coolly.
Looking disappointed, Ford stepped in even closer. “Just interesting?”
“Okay; so far you seem like a wonderful man,” she admitted while fondling his stylish tie. “Is that what you want me to say?”
“Not if you don’t mean it.”
Maya tilted her head forward causing her red curls to cover her eyes. “Well, I do.”
He lifted her face to his. “I think you’re wonderful too,” he said, smiling.
Maya felt a hot shiver threatening to convulse her, but she regained control.
“So, can I take you out?” Ford asked again, flashing his Colgate smile.
Maya blushed. “I’d like that.”
Ford planted a lingering kiss to her lips. He winked at her before grabbing his file from the desk. “Sit tight, pretty lady. I have a few things to tie up.”
Maya’s entire body burned as she watched him exit the office. When the door closed, her weak legs collapsed. She slid into the chair, taking in several deep, hot breaths. She’d tried to play it cool, but she could feel her entire body trembling.
She ran her hand threw her hair. Things were moving pretty fast. She had no idea how to stop it; neither did she want to. She smiled, touching her lips. The blood heated beneath her skin.
She loved the way Ford made her feel and the way he touched her. She enjoyed the excitement and the rush she felt when he was around. She felt sexy and desired.
She licked her lips. She could still taste Ford’s spearmint breath and smell his cologne. She closed her eyes and shook her head. After the breakup with Big D, she’d felt dead. Now, the dormant individual that had been living inside of her had packed up and moved out. She was back to her old, happy self again. It felt good living!
