I love this book! Combining Steampunk and the Wild, Wild West makes this story so much fun to read. Anna Blue and Jack Hawkins are two people that you want to continue reading about, without having an end to the story. I could smell the old west and feel the grittiness because of the fantastic way Nico Rosso writes.
Anna Blue is the kind of woman that legends of the Old West are written about. She is a bounty hunter who never likes to be second fiddle or second place and can hold her own against the bad guys and even the good guys, like Jack Hawkins.
I love the fact Hawkins doesn’t treat Anna like she’s a fragile flower, but as an equal. His mechanical arm is fascinating and his little quirks are fun to read about. Blue and Hawkins work so well together, so in sync; I hope there are more chronicles with them or two others that equal their devotion toward each other.
What is great about this story is that Blue and Hawkins are very likeable people. The bad guys are bad, plain and simple and the good guys are just that, good. You take a step into time (with a slight twist) when you start this story.
Author Nick Rosso grabs your attention on the first page and yes, it’s on my dog-eared pile and will always be re-read because it’s just that good!
