One Night with the Bridesmaid by Sara Daniel is a short, quick read. Each book in Sarah Daniel’s 1 Night Stand series can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
In this novella, our heroine, Sabrina Lopez, is a Latino, inner-city school teacher in San Diego. As the story opens, Sabrina is her best friend’s maid of honor and has been running herself ragged to ensure that Caroline’s wedding comes off without a hitch. As she’s dining with the bride-to-be and her mother at a posh eatery, discussing last-minute wedding plans, the bride’s mother makes an outlandish announcement as she gifts her daughter and each of the girls in the wedding party with an unconventional present: a pre-wedding one-night stand courtesy of Madame Eve’s elite, highly recommended, matchmaking service.
While initially shocked at the bizarre token, Sabrina ultimately decides to go for it. She’s not a virgin; but she’s also never been truly sexually satisfied with a partner. When she’s truthful with herself, “Slam, Bam, Thank You Ma’am,” aptly describes her past unsatisfying experiences. Perhaps with Madam Eve’s help, Sabrina might discover a real man who can fulfill all her desires. What has she got to lose?
When his brother’s wedding is surprisingly called off at the last minute, famous Hollywood mogul, Rob Wellington, blames the maid of honor for breaking up the wedding. Rob and the jilted groom attempt to drown their sorrows by becoming inebriated and as they finish the last of the alcohol, they make the decision to find their own dream women by trying out Madame Eve’s service for themselves.
When Rob and Sabrina are matched by Madame Eve’s service, sparks are guaranteed to fly.
The relationship between Sabrina and Rob is the main focus of this book. The author does a great job developing the story line and engaging the reader with the characters within the book’s 33 pages. The writing is fluid and the heat level is HOT as the couple thoroughly enjoy their one night stand. However, there’s much more than just hot sex going on within these pages. It is quite captivating to read about two people who are totally oblivious to what is truly evolving between them. The question then becomes: will the couple be able to maintain their facade of emotional indifference after their one-night stand?
One Night with the Bridesmaid is a perfect beach read or a book you can grab as you curl up in your easy chair. Be ready to be treated to fast paced action, humor, hot, spontaneous sex, and soul-searching reflection.
