Penthouse is getting raunchy…er
So Penthouse magazine has decided they want to get in on the popularity of erotica. Yes you read that correctly. Penthouse has teamed up with Cleis Press for a new series of erotica novels called Pentouse Variations.
“The series will feature six co-branded collections of erotica, each collection will have a theme. For example, the first title will be Penthouse Variations on Oral.” First of all that first title has me deliciously intrigued and amused. Second of all this may be the best no-brainer pairings in a long time.

William Shatner speaks truth
One of the most iconic and spoken about moments in Star Trek history is the famous kiss between William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols. The kiss was the first ever interracial kiss on American network television. Shatner recently dicussed the kiss and not only revealed his thoughts on the original controversy but also how much he enjoyed the experience.
“Now, it seems like a silly fuss about nothing,” Shatner said. “Here’s this beautiful woman, and the script had it on the page for me to kiss her. Not only not a hardship, it was a great pleasure. The fact that at that time there was some rumblings in some of the Southern states and certain cities and towns didn’t play the show because of an interracial kiss — times have changed completely and that no longer is thought of as anything unusual so that’s a really good reading of how far we’ve come.”
It’s still a career-defining moment for both he and Nichols, frequently discussed as part of the small-screen legacy left behind by Star Trek — a series that’s surprisingly short-lived when you consider everything it accomplished in that time. Nichols later recalled that the network had insisted on shooting a kiss-free version of the scene to give themselves options in editing, but that the pair had deliberately sabotaged those versions of the scene to ensure it went out.

National Geographic shook their magic crystal ball for a look into America’s ethno-future and the results are both stunning and beautiful.
“It’s no secret that interracial relationships are trending upward, and in a matter of years we’ll have Tindered, OKCupid-ed and otherwise sexed ourselves into one giant amalgamated mega-race.”
For their 125th Anniversary issue back in October, the famous magazine focused in on the growing trend of interracial relationships: They not only analyzed the trend, but hired a renowned photographer to capture the faces of America’s emerging interracial and multicultural future:
“These are obviously not Photoshopped projections, but real people, meaning tomorrow’s America lives among us now in every “Blackanese,” “Filatino,” “Chicanese” and “Korgentinian” you meet at the DMV, grocery store or wherever it is you hang out.
Their numbers will only grow. The U.S. Census Bureau let respondents check more than one race for the first time in 2000, and 6.8 million people did so. By 2010 that figure had increased to nearly 9 million, a spike of about 32%.”
Although this article is not new, it is very interesting and has recently resurfaced as Americans begin to discuss their changing ethnography more. We here at Romance Novels in Color are no strangers to these changes and it’s my hope that it will be reflected more and more in mainstream romance and fiction.

And Something Funny Just Because
So I have a ridiculous brain crush on Brian Williams. He’s never made it a secret that he’s a huge music fan and has even shared his favourite playlists on-line several times. These lists include a range of music and he has a surprising amount of Jay-Z albums. Jimmy Fallon recently made his own mix with Williams as the voice and I still can’t stop laughing 🙂
