Something New, Amazon’s Pre-Order Button Bomb Bomb, Kindle Unlimited, Samsung is making Nookie and Some Movers and Shakers
Hello All! I’ve been out sick for a bit but I’m back and I’m trying something new. This week I’m doing a video post instead of my usual format. Links to the Movers & Shakers can be found below the video as well as the usual synopsis of information I usually provide. I’m also answering some interesting reader questions so sit back, relax, and enjoy the melodic tones of my voice ;).
Amazon’s Pre-Order Bomb
Small presses and independent publishers rejoiced this week when Amazon announced that they would now offer the “Pre-Order” button. Until this announcement only big publishers and some select big name self-publishers had this option. This seems to be a game changer for many authors so expect to see a lot of your favorite indie authors and presses offering pre-order books.
So Amazon has dipped their toes in the subscription book lending market with their new program, Kindle Unlimited. Oyster and Scribd are already big in this field so it will be interesting to see how this goes for Amazon. The jury is out regarding whether this is actually good for reader or authors. You can read more abut the program here.
Samsung makes Nookie with BnB
Samsung has gotten in bed with Barnes and Noble and has designed a Galaxy Tab Nook. I’m a huge Galaxy fan and was really excited when I heard this. The device is available now and retails starting at $179 USD. There’s no telling whether this will help revitalize this share of the market for BnB, but fingers crossed, because I hate to see a bookseller fail.
You can see more of the specs and ooh and ahh over the new device here.
