I tried really hard to like this book. The beginning of the book was really hard to understand. My major problem with the book was the dialect of the hero. It was very distracting and really took away from the story. I spent so much time trying to understand what the characters were saying that I lost the feel-good, emotional connection that I like to read about in love stories. I appreciate the author trying to draw the reader into the story with the detailed descriptions of the language and cultural information, but it was confusing, especially when the hero was speaking with the customer/client about his interior decorating needs.
Usually I can tell if I like a story within the first couple of chapters. I wanted to give this book a fighting chance and continued reading. From the story overview I had such high expectations of this story that were not met. It seems the writer invested a lot of time on the hero and heroine’s past and what originally happened in their relationship and what caused the initial breakup.
I am giving the story a star rating of 1 because you can tell the writer has talent; it just wasn’t portrayed effectively in this book. I would be willing to try and read another book by this author.
