The Cost of Love and Sanity by Jaye Cherie is a depiction of how one gets in one’s own way and a testament to the patience of love. This is the journey of Alexis Carter and her quest to find love.
Alexis “Alex” Carter is an executive with a job referral company and has been very successful at her job. Alex has a successful career, a great home, and is more than ready to add the missing element of her plan, a family. However, having a successful relationship has eluded her and once again, she finds herself alone.
As the beginning of the year looms, Alex and the other management are informed that the company’s numbers are falling and positions are threatened. She has also made a very serious decision, to consider moving forth with her goal to start a family, even if she does not have a husband.
Alex runs into an old boyfriend, Nathan Chestnut, and they both realize that they still have feelings for each other. This sets them down the path of seeing if they can survive the reason that their previous relationship ended, which was after Nathan chose to do something that Alex would not tolerate. Now, after a rocky start, they attempt to date and it is more than a notion.
Jaye Cherie has penned a novel that depicts a woman who’s highly successful, organized and thorough, but when it comes to love, she’s as confusing, reactive and nerve wrecking as can be. Will she be able to “get out of her own way” and allow love to flourish? We shall see.
NOTE REGARDING READABILITY OF THIS BOOK: This book needs to be edited. The errors took me away from the story as I had to read parts twice and even three times. The wrong words were used and at one point, a character was called by another character’s name.
