This is Melody “Neicy” Anderson’s story.
Melody was the “The Other Woman” in the life of the Lieutenant Governor Francis Tattersall. Does she know he is married? Did Tattersall lie to her about that fact? No! She knew, she went into the relationship with her eyes wide open. Something happened in Melody’s past that caused her to believe that this was all she was good for, being the Other Woman. She was not looking for love, she was content to be the Other Woman. She was not looking for a commitment from this man. She knew he was not going to leave his family for her, her heart was never at risk!
Francis Tattersall, through his dishonesty, exposes Melody as the Other Woman in his life, and now the whole world knows it too. She is tarred with the same brush as he is. Their relationship is on blast in the newspapers, the paparazzi are camped out on her mother’s door step, hoping that she will spill the beans on her relationship with the Lieutenant Governor. Melody loses everything: her reputation, her home, her money, and the respect of her fellow man. Her colleagues and extended family make judgements about her and make her life uncomfortable.
Then she meets Carnie, and there appears to be an instant attraction, and she explores a relationship with him. She is not looking to commit her heart because Carnie is with the Carnival and they travel from one town to the next all year round. She is only expecting to be with him for a week. Carnie takes her mind off the horrible mess she has managed to create of her life. He does not ask her about the scandal and appears to accept her for who she is. They become close and intimate fast. Carnie is not all he seems to be. He too is hiding something from her.
This story has betrayal, kidnapping, human trafficking, judgement, forgiveness, love, lies and misunderstanding as some of the themes in this story.
Melody is on a journey of self-discovery and owing up to her mistakes and shortcomings and finally understanding why she made the choices she did, which brought her to this point in her life.
This was an engrossing read. I have read this author before and I have enjoyed all her stories. I would highly recommend this book as a great read!
