The Biggest Poser, by Sam Cheever, is a story about a reality television show. The show is fashioned after the real life television show The Biggest Loser, where contestants work, over a four-month period of time, to lose weight. It is intended that the person that loses the greatest percentage of weight will win the money. This story included the twist of having the trainers also compete for the title of Master Trainer. The book also showed that this new season of Lose It! included the addition of a chef, well-known for creating delicious meals and deserts that are low calorie and healthy. The book mentions the use of applesauce, yogurt, etc. as ingredients, but did not give the reader any other suggestions about healthy cooking. That would have added to the story.
The format which this book took, implying that the beginning of each chapter was an interview with a particular contestant or person that worked on the show, was extremely confusing. Often those sections of the chapter did not mesh with the remainder of the chapter.
This book contained too many surprises that I did not feel added to the story. I enjoy not knowing who the culprit is and working to figure it out, but in this story there were so many surprises that didn’t necessarily throw you off the antagonist, but did not help the story.
I have read many of Sam Cheever’s books and this one did not meet my expectations for her work, but since I have enjoyed all her other work, I will continue to read what she writes.
