Google rethinks crazy, Slavery BDSM…Some Movers and Shakers plus Laurel crawls back into her cave.
Google retracts it’s claws
A few wakes ago Google announced that they would be changing it’s adult filter policy. Meant to target those blog that display and discuss what Google deemed as inappropriate adult content, the policy change would have impacted many romance authors and reviewers who use blogger as the platform for their blogs or website. I spoke a little more in-depth about the situation here.
However, after several days of getting a barrage of complaints from all corners of the interwebs, Google wisely re-thought the policy change and has decided to stick with the status quo. Bloggers who use the platform and whose blogs contain adult content, must still add the “Adult Content” warning to their sites, but should have no worries about Google shutting down their blog any more.

What the actual…What?!…
So I’ve been limiting my social media exposure for a while. The reasons for which are explained here. On some level my trigger points have become more sensitive due to my absence. However, there was some social media insanity that occurred last week that even reached me in my cave of solitude…All I have to say is 50 Shades of Grey meets Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. Yes you read that correctly. Some author thinks that a great book plot would be to a BDSM erotica featuring Thomas Jefferson (a SLAVE owner) and Sally Hemings (his slave). To quote my little sister..”I just can’t!”
This is a serious issue. It is way too easy for people to ignore history, context, racial sensitivity and just plain decency. As an author I can understand the drive to pursue inspiration. However, the moment anyone thinks it might be “funny” to write a BDSM story about the suffering of a real person and other people who endured the same hardships…it all makes me wonder about that person’s true character.
