The Blacksteine Brothers’
Atlanta Hoosiers point guard, Brooks Blacksteine, lives for the game and has never let anything interfere with his dreams. Until an unforeseen injury threatens everything. He’s on the verge of depression until in walks Dr. Kaye Smith to assist him in his summer recovery. Brooks is instantly attracted to the beautiful doctor but he refuses to allow another woman to hang off his arm for status. But Kaye isn’t just any woman and she’s awakening feelings inside of him that he’s never dared to feel before.
Trying to escape her scandalous past life as a naïve, jilted former wife of a professional NFL player, Dr. Kaye Smith flees to Atlanta. Becoming the Hoosier’s new on-call doctor; her first assignment: help sexy Brooks Blacksteine recover from a basketball injury that threatens to end his career. For one of the best orthopedic doctors in the country, the task seems simple enough. Until the pro ball player begins to make Kaye forget all the reasons why she’s sworn off athletes and given up on love.
Brooks licked his lips and stood as Kaye strutted pass him. He grabbed her elbow and she slightly turned in his direction. He brought his hand to her face and stroked the curves of her oval face. “Are you sure you’re okay?” He gently rubbed his thump up and down the side of her face.
“I-I-I’m great,” she stammered.
Brooks’ hands roamed to the back of her neck; he gripped it lightly, massaging the sensitive spot between her shoulder blades. Kaye’s head fell back slightly, her eyes rolling shut. Brooks smiled and brought his body forward to fit her against his frame. He dipped his head down to taste those luscious lips again. He lowered his eyelids, and when his lips grazed her bottom lip, she dropped the caped bottle of water she was still holding.
Kaye’s eyes flew opened as she stumbled a few steps back with the look of confusion etched across her creased eyebrows. “You can’t do that again,” she said in a whisper.
Brooks advanced forward. “I can’t do what again?” he asked in a mellow tone.
“Why not?” Brooks asked, sliding his arm around her waist.
Kaye’s breathing became choppy as she forced out the words. “I’m here to help you,” she confessed as her chest heaved up and down.
Brooks smiled. “You are helping me.” He lowered his head again, this time capturing her mouth in a passionate kiss. He took his time to explore all the caves and corners of her mouth. He swirled his tongue around a few times with hers and nibbled on her bottom lip. He heard a moan escape from her as he dove in deeper, palming her buttocks and squeezing her waist. He traced her lips one last time with his tongue as he reluctantly released her lips.
Kaye stood in his embrace with her eyes still fastened shut. Brooks bore down at her with a smirk as he released her body. She finally opened her eyes and a wash of embarrassment, lust, and heat flashed in her pupils. She strolled backwards towards the stairs with her eyes transfixed on Brooks. She seemed startled while scrambling up the steps.
Brooks exhaled slowly as he watched Kaye’s backside flee up the winding staircase again. Rubbing the back of his neck, he concluded that Dr. Kaye Smith was a complex woman
