This story begins with a bang. The author has a way of pulling in the reader, starting at the prologue.
The emotions of the heroine, Catalella (aka “Cat”) are so real and heart breaking. Equally emotional, is the introduction of Ethan/Rich.
When Cat and Ethan/Rich first meet, it’s very explosive; at this point, you understand the reason why Cat is feeling the way that she does. She has experienced a great deal of pain.
The introduction of Darcy provides the reader with another layer to the story. Darcy is full of life and brings a humorous spark to the story.
The story is a very easy read, and you are pulled in immediately. The author provides such imagery that you feel like you are actually in the story. The secondary characters provide the background history.
The author definitely writes with passion, and as you read, the emotions are really intense. Cat has had to deal with some really serious issues during her life, but I liked how the author doesn’t gloss over it. You can feel Cat’s pain, understand it and you immediately want to cheer for a happy ending.
I love how her family plays an important part of the story and how the relationship is so loving, and how they are so supportive of Cat. It is such a joy to read about Cat’s family dynamics. Her brothers are very protective and quite amusing when they meet Rich/Ethan for the first time. As the story continues Cat and Ethan are faced with many setbacks as they recognize they have a love and family worth fighting for.
This is a very enjoyable read. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
