Frosty Relations, by Tara Quan, is the second book in her A Witch’s Night Out series, but is also a part of the 1Night Stand Series. This is a very short story, only 48 pages, but I did not feel the story was incomplete. Even though I have not read the first book, this book is very much able to be a stand-alone story.
Mina is the Human Resources person at a law firm and always ends up handling the firms IT problems. It is Christmas Eve and everyone at the firm is leaving for the holiday, except Jack. Mina has a 1Night Stand date and tells Jack that she cannot help him. She has a prior history with Jack, since she is a familiar and was meant to be his familiar until he rejected her and claimed he had no magic. Mina went on to college, got a degree in Psychology and is planning on leaving the firm in a few months to begin teaching in another state and working on her Masters degree. Jack doesn’t realize, until that point, that he would be lost without Mina. As fate would have it Jack is at the location where Mina’s date is scheduled and helps her out of a rough situation. Since he does not want her left alone, to possibly be attacked again, he takes her to his home, where all his furniture is made of ice! The author’s description of his apartment was fascinating. I could actually visualize the furniture while she was describing it.
Obviously this story has a HEA, even though I did feel it ended a little abruptly. I recommend this book for anyone looking for a quick read.
