This is my first time reading material by this author. The beginning starts with a very well written prologue and the introduction of the main characters: Jocelyn and Ahmad. From the very beginning, the author’s writing style drew me into the story.
I love how the author introduces Jocelyn and her family. Jocelyn’s character has to handle why she’s not married and why she doesn’t have a family. The background provides the reader with the family relationships and their interactions. It’s very clear that Jocelyn’s family cares about her a lot and only wants her happiness. It’s a very refreshing surprise how the engagement party brings back memories of family reunions, with the entertaining uncle that everyone has. This is also the point where we really meet the hero, Ahmad. He comes across as very smooth, but you also understand the deep and real feelings he has for Jocelyn. The story continues to be a very easy read, and you may even laugh out loud at some of the family members.
The author does a very good job of explaining the BDSM lifestyle as well as helping the reader to understand the family-like relationship within the BDSM community at Jocelyn’s club. When Jocelyn and Ahmad officially meet, the chemistry leaps off the page, definitely a page turner. The emotions are truly heartfelt, along with a steamy and hot sexual connection between the two. The reader will enjoy how their feelings for each other continue to develop as their relationship grows and how the BDSM relationship and “true love” relationship are blended so well together. In addition, the story addresses the issue of domestic violence within the BDSM community. The topic is handled very tastefully.
I usually don’t read BDSM story lines, but this was a pleasant surprise and an enjoyable read. I would definitely add this author on my to-watch-out-for list!
