His Diamond Queen is the latest installment in Lena Hart’s Queen Quartette series and it was a good read. In this story Rachelle Silva, daughter of a ruthless crime boss, gets assigned a bodyguard she never asked for and Jay Price cannot wait for this assignment to end. To say these two clash upon their first meeting is an understatement. Rachelle is your typical spoiled, rich girl while Jay is a man with the dark past and the tattooed “thug” look and personality to boot. The sparks between these two is evident, however each tries to fight the inevitable. As the threat to Rachelle’s life increases, so does the sexual awareness between Jay and Rachelle. Jay knows he shouldn’t cross the line but events cause him to hide Rachelle in his world and the close proximity allows the two to explore their feelings. Can Jay continue to protect Rachelle and not give in to his feelings? Readers will need to download a copy of His Diamond Queen to find out.
I enjoyed this story and felt the storyline flowed and kept me intrigued to find out the outcome of Jay and Rachelle’s journey. The author did a good job displaying Rachelle’s need to delve into Jay’s past to discover the true person he was and not the job he does. She sees his self-worth and wants to be a part of his life. Rachelle is portrayed as the spoiled rich girl. She is naive and thinks she can treat others badly until Jay calls her on it. As the two explore their feelings, Jay continues to eliminate the threats but also realizes the biggest threat will be facing her father when he learns of their relationship.
Overall, this was a good read and I look forward to reading other works by Ms. Hart.
