2016 New Year’s Resolution Book Companion: Travel More
Yesterday I shared with you the 2016 RNIC Book Companion guide for anyone with a New Year’s resolution to get fit. I’ll be sharing a few of these guides all week. The purpose of them is to provide inspiration and motivation to help you reach your resolution goals. And of course, each goal is tailored towards romance readers…because…my goal in life is to convert everyone into voracious book lovers. Not in an Invasion of the Body Snatchers kind of way…but close.
Today we cover another common resolution and goal, the resolution and want to TRAVEL MORE…
RESOLUTION #2: TRAVEL MORE
At one point we almost all tell ourselves “This will be the year I finally go visit X place“. I have several places on my “To Visit” list. Ireland, Italy, Egypt and Japan, braces yourselves it WILL happen one day. I will be landing on your soil and stimulating your economy while eating all of your delicious food. Fortunately for these countries, traveling more is not on my list of resolutions this year :). However, for those of you looking for a little motivation and to help you take that leap in booking some tickets, or just if want a great read while in the middle of your trip, check out the book companion guide below:
The Viking Wants Forever by Koko Brown
A Love Frozen In Time…
Reese Johnson yearns for a life other than the world of drudgery she’s settled for as the manager of a comic book store. What’s that they say? Be careful what you wish for? Well that’s a motto Reese should have tattooed across her forehead. Because Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has just the remedy for the boring life of this woman who denounces his existence.
His recipe for disaster?
Take a 30 year-old woman and send her back in time as a pawn for revenge. Couple her with Eirik Sigurdsson, a Viking Warlord, too arrogant and baggage-laden to be of any use for anything, but battle and bed. Mix thoroughly, folding in a heavy dose of pride, a tyrannical king, and a sympathetic goddess. Bake at high until a white-hot love is unleashed and then forever frozen in time.
Destiny’s Captive by Beverly Jenkins
Noah Yates fully believes in the joys of a happy family and a good wife. But that’s not the life for him. No, he would much rather sail the wild seas in search of adventure, not tied down. But then the unthinkable happens . . . he finds himself literally tied down. To a bed. By a woman.
And Pilar isn’t just an ordinary woman. She’s descended from pirates. And after giving him one of the worst nights of his life, she steals his ship! Now Noah is on the hunt, and he’ll stop at nothing to find this extraordinary woman . . . and make her his.
Renewed by Harper Miller
I was hurt. I was heartbroken. I felt abandoned and emotionally drained.
Sometimes heartache can open new doors.
Of course, names have been changed to protect all parties involved, but this is my story.
Pirates, doms, and vikings, OH MY! Each of the stories mentioned above embodies the spirit of travel and exploration in some way (including time travel 🙂 ). If these reads don’t get you in the traveling spirit, I don’t know what will. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s resolution book companion guide: BE MORE ADVENTUROUS. If you missed yesterday’s companion guide for GETTING FIT, check it out here.
Laurel Cremant is an opinionated author and reader of romance with a wicked sense of humor. RNIC was smart (or crazy) to bring her on as a blogger. In 2016 she took over the management of this site and relishes her new title of “Overlord of Awesome”
