Series: Oyster Harbor #4

I don’t know how much work goes into writing a historical romance. I will say that the best historical romances are the ones that don’t bend history. These stories don’t whitewash or put a shade over the ugliness of the history of the United States. Afton Locke’s Oyster Harbor series is currently one of the very rare few Historical Romance series I enjoy reading. While Cali’s Hurricane is the fourth entry in the series I hope it’s not the last.
Readers, if you are like me and you have read all the books in Oyster Harbor series which includes: Plucking the Pearl, Rose, Exposed and Sadie’s Surrender then you should leave a brief review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Kobo for how freaking great those books are and how Ms. Locke should continue the series.
For those newbies who have never tried Ms. Locke and want to test her out with Cali’s Hurricane this what you should expect:
- In this book there are four main characters. Jimmy (who was previously a background character in Plucking) and Mary (who was attacked in Rose and the mayor of Oyster Harbor’s daughter) get equal time as the Mysterious Cali and Jon the mayor of Oyster Harbor’s son.
- Historical Accuracy. This is a huge because Ms. Locke introduced the Klan in Pearl. In each book of the series each of her male leads had to fight this organizations ideology in order to find their own happy ending.
- If you are a huge fan girl like me then you will love the appearances made by Pearl, Opal and Caleb ,Leroy and Rose, Sadie and Henry and of course Ms. Johnson .
I ll be honest with y’all . I found nothing wrong with this book. Yes there were moments where I wanted to scream at Jon , moments that shocked me and moments that I had to find a tissue because it hurt me emotionally. I can tell y’all that this series is a treasure. Don’t let the cover fool you ,Cali’s Hurricane is great for a day when you have off and you need to treat yourself.

Laurel Cremant is an opinionated author and reader of romance with a wicked sense of humor. RNIC was smart (or crazy) to bring her on as a blogger. In 2016 she took over the management of this site and relishes her new title of “Overlord of Awesome”
