I haven’t had a chance to write any reviews lately, but I wanted to give you all a few recommendations today for books I’ve read recently that I think some of you may enjoy 🙂 There is plenty more to come.
Why?: Opposites attract and detract! I love haw the author handled an otherwise overused trope. The heroine is a little quirky but smart AF, and the hero has some of the best internal monologues I’ve read in a while.
Why?: Romance, scorching love scenes, plus suspense, the mafia. Check, check, check and check!
Note: Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone.
He had it all…
Good looks. Thriving business. Beautiful fiancée. Life for casino owner David Carrone and his sweetheart Athena Lewis is at its peak—until a scandal of lies, a secret from his past, and an unspeakable tragedy tears a wide rift between them.
He lost it all…
With his reputation in question, his business in ruins, and his world crumbling around him, David struggles to protect all he holds dear. But when the most important person in his life is met with danger, he can no longer play by the rules.
He risked it all…
Desperate to get back the woman he loves, David recruits the help of some unlikely allies—and become the monster many believe him to be. Because when risking it all for the one you love, sometimes you have to face the devil with a demon…
Why?: I loved the premise of this book. It was fresh and new (at least to me)…A dating service that works so well, that you have no choice but to at least try to follow through. No swiping left or right here.
The year is 2100. Wise people marry by registering with Bioexpa Data Match. The matchmaking company has such a near perfect record that choosing your own mate is now considered tantamount to marrying a blood relative.
Haven Thomas is a beautiful, curvy, confident woman. She’s immediately attracted to her gorgeous blond, husband. But her hopes for a happy union are dashed when she realizes that her new husband thinks she’s fat. She has no choice but to go through the thirty-day probation period, but after that, she plans to walk away.
Scott Fields owns a restaurant that serves healthy food and is part owner of a gym. Finding himself married to a curvy woman could prove to be a promotional nightmare unless he finds a way to spin it. Then he meets Haven. It doesn’t take him long to decide that she’s perfect as she is. Now he just has to convince Haven to give him a second chance.
Why?: The sweetness factor may give you a toothache, but sometimes you just need a shot of sugar. The characters are well written and the hero is the local cop you imagine naked all the time (in a respectful way).
When charismatic K-9 cop Alex Santiago shows up at Paradise Animal Clinic with a tiny gray kitten in his jacket, something inside Dr. Cassie Marshall shifts. The overworked single mom and veterinarian had been sure her plate was already full. Yet something about Alex’s coffee-brown eyes has made her reconsider. Surely she can make room in her heart for just one more.
But two? When Cassie learns she is pregnant after a hot night with Alex, she panics. How can she handle one man, his dog, her little girl, their cat and a baby? Her sexy deputy sheriff has made no bones about wanting a simple relationship. So how can she tell her love-shy Valentine that their already full menagerie is about to be visited by the stork?
Laurel Cremant is an opinionated author and reader of romance with a wicked sense of humor. RNIC was smart (or crazy) to bring her on as a blogger. In 2016 she took over the management of this site and relishes her new title of “Overlord of Awesome”
