This summer year a really great documentary focusing on the romance industry titled Love Between the Covers was released. Several popular (and awesome) romance authors were interviewed in the documentary and it was one of my favorite films this year. Aside from it focusing on something I love, it was just plain fantastic to see the readers, authors, agents and publishers who support romance speak about all of the reasons why it is awesome.
When I mentioned the film the other day to someone who is an avid romance reader, I was surprised that they hadn’t heard of Love Between the Covers. So not only was I quick to school her, I also realized that I never mentioned the movie here on RNIC. Now is as good a time as any to rectify that oversite 🙂 Check out the info and trailer below, then mosey on over to Amazon, Google Play, iTunes or other streaming option to view the full movie.
‘Love Between the Covers’ is the fascinating story of six very different romance novel authors within a powerhouse industry that’s on the cusp of an irreversible change.
While romance novels and their signature covers are ubiquitous around the world and romance novels are sold in 34 languages, the global community of millions of women who read, write, and love them remains oddly invisible.
‘Love Between the Covers’ is a feature-length documentary film about the little known, surprisingly powerful community of women who read and write romance novels. For three years, we follow their lives as they build their businesses, find and lose loved ones, cope with a tsunami of change in publishing and earn a living doing what they love – while empowering others to do the same.
See what goes on behind the scenes at some of romance’s biggest publishing houses.

Laurel Cremant is an opinionated author and reader of romance with a wicked sense of humor. RNIC was smart (or crazy) to bring her on as a blogger. In 2016 she took over the management of this site and relishes her new title of “Overlord of Awesome”
