Within the military, inappropriate relationships between seniors and their juniors is a serious offense. Layla is an enlisted member of the US Navy who meets the perfect guy while she’s on leave. After several fun-filled days and passionate nights, her world is turned upside down when she discovers Ethan is also in the Navy. But not only that - he’s an officer, which means any personal relationship between them is prohibited by military law. Is Layla strong enough to walk away from the only man to hold her heart?
Ethan is a well-respected aviator - a war hero. He meets Layla during a dark moment in his life and falls for her instantly. But the discovery that their relationship is forbidden, catapults the decorated officer into a place darker than the one Layla helped pull him from. He’s forced to choose between the profession that means everything to him and the woman he’s waited his entire life for.
In order to avoid disciplinary action and protect their careers, Layla and Ethan will need to put an end to their relationship. Unfortunately, they’ve already gotten in too deep. Can military regulations separate lovers who are destined to be together?

Layla and Ethan were really great together. When I first started reading this book I was wondering how the story would play out since they were both in the military. Sha Renee does a really great job of sucking you into a story, making you feel the chemistry between the characters and then throwing a boulder into the story line. Forbidden Kisses is on the those books that will spark an interest based off the cover, intrigue you from the blurb on the back and then, lure you in within the first few pages.
The chemistry between Layla and Ethan is steamy and sweet. There were times while reading the book that I was wondering if the author had written this story from life experiences; that’s just how good the little details are. I’ve read military romance stories before and they were really technical so the story line doesn’t flow well together. But Sha Renee did a great job with integrating romance and military life. The verbiage used doesn’t overwhelm the reader and it helps you understand the characters better.
Ethan and Layla both deal with life experiences in similar ways. Layla’s mom is ill and Ethan is grieving his friend’s death. Their outlook on life is what brings them together. They are the puzzle piece that is missing from each other’s life, but in walks their careers. The military is strict on their policies and Ethan and Layla have decisions to make.
From what we’re being told, there’s a sequel to this book. I’m ready for it. Hopefully Sha Renee will provide a copy to us. I need to know what happens next.
